Guess what movie we watched this evening? If for no other reason than to hopefully learn a couple more words to the song. . .

What we’ve been up to

We’ve gotten some fun packages this month – it’s like Christmas is still going! We had to reorder shoes for Dellaina from Granny in a bigger size, so that package came. Then, when Mammie read about Dellaina remembering the single conversation they had had about Ariel months before (in which Dellaina had said she wanted it and there was a “maybe” given but no real confirmation but rather, “it’s good to get surprises”), we shortly received another package which both kids really enjoyed and even “Eric is really happy” (and it also had Sleeping Beauty the movie in it)

 

It could always be brighter!

 

 

 

Then, we got a package with some great sweaters for Wyatt from Granny and some money for both of them, too! Then, we got a strange package from Thailand that contained Cinderella and The Lion King! Mammie had ordered them on Amazon and it came just in time for the cold, rainy days this week.

We’ve had some more time outside on the playground – having a Moon pie snack up in the playhouse part when we got home on Tuesday from the lake

Lately

Dellaina uses the word, “Seriously?” and it makes me laugh.

 

 

 

We’ve been doing puzzles a lot lately, especially at night before Wyatt goes to bed. He’s really gotten into them and it’s a fun little activity to do together to wind down at night.

 

 

 

 

I called Greg’s cell phone on the way home from Crate & Barrel and Dellaina answers, “Hey” and we have a great little conversation. It was fun to be on the other end. She tells me Greg is in the shower and she heard his phone ring, so she came to see the name and when she saw “Andria McCarty” she thought it was the “Real” Andria McCarty (Aunt Andrea) but it was just me.

We are really working on letter recognition with Wyatt. He surprised me one day when I asked him to pick out certain letters (I had a group of 6 at a time and asked, “where is the ‘A’?”), getting most of them correct, but if you ask him to name them individually, it’s a little more hit or miss.

I got him in a Pull Up the other day after sitting on the potty and going pee-pee. He went to the bathroom in it and we haven’t really done it again, but we’re slowly introducing it and trying to get him comfortable with the idea.

Wyatt uses the phrase “that last time” often when talking about something that has already happened.

When he wakes up in the mornings, he starts yelling for me and we have a little conversation back and forth down the hall while I stretch and wake up.

He says “Hey mama” constantly and I so want to say, “Hay is for horses” just like when they ask, “Can I. . .?” I respond, “I don’t know, can you?” and correct with “May I?” I am THAT annoying parent.

Yesterday, Dellaina took a toy Wyatt was playing with and ran away and Wyatt was chasing her saying, “My Darling! Give me back My Darling!” and when he got it back, “I got My Darling” it was pretty cute.

Dellaina was sitting in her chair eating dinner and commented, “I am a good taker-offer” and I look at her questioningly and she explains because she can take her shoes and socks off while sitting in her chair without using her hands. Yes, I’m always commenting about how her shoes come off while she’s sitting in her chair or the car seat.

She has her own language at times trying to make up words, but using sounds that are very realistic sounding. She’ll say something and then explain, “that’s ‘goodnight’ in Spanish”

Long weekend

Wednesday, we went to the doctor for Dellaina to redo her hearing test (she passed with flying colors this time – amazing what she can hear when her ears aren’t completely clogged!) and she had made a few complaints about her chest hurting her and hurting when she swallows, so with all of Wyatt’s breathing/lung issues, I want to make sure she was ok, so scheduled to see the doctor as well. I wasn’t really sure they were legitimate complaints because they would come when she woke up and was fussy or just off the wall times, but it was more than twice, so I wanted to be sure. She checked out fine and the doctor thought/mentioned acid reflux. oooooh. I hadn’t made that connection, smart thinking. Not sure if that’s what’s really going on or not, but it makes sense/matches her complaints, so we’ll just try to pay attention to her eating, etc. After the docs, I decided to go check out a fish store for some new fish for the fish tank! I had wanted some for my birthday since we got the tank all cleaned up. sort of. But, when we get there (after we’ve gotten out, because all of the neon signs are on – except the one that says “Open”) I realize they don’t open until noon. It’s just after 11, so I call Greg to see if he can look up any other places we might could try since the kids were ready to bring home some fish! We run to Party City to take back some things I had left over from Dellaina’s party that didn’t get used and head to one other place I knew about, but no one really offered to help us and I wasn’t sure about the prices or selection without comparing, so we loaded up and headed BACK to the other store where we ended up getting: 6 snails, 3 hermit crabs, 2 Emerald crabs, 2 other snails and 3 small (bright blue Damsel) fish! Lots of cleaning things to help clean the tank before getting lots of expensive fish. Already, we are down to: 5 snails, the hermit crabs move a lot, so it’s hard to keep tabs, 1 Emerald crab and it’s hard to call on the 2 snails if either is really still around, one disappeared as soon as I put him in (they bury down in the sand and supposed come back out, but he’s never resurfaced) and 2 fish! *sigh.

 

 

 

Thursday, we met Marcy for dinner at O’Charleys. It was fun. I unloaded a big box of maternity clothes for her to use! Yay! They find out this week if they are having a boy or a girl!! Then, we headed on down to the lake.

 

I stayed and played Friday – it was a BEAUTIFUL day. Nice and sunny, so not too cold and not raining! We played outside on the swing set and trampoline and bicycles and walking on the seawall to throw pine cones and sticks in the water.

 

 

 

 

I drove back late Friday evening after traffic had settled down, so it was after 9:00 by the time I got home. Greg and I carried on an actual conversation without interruption and caught up, then watched an episode of House while he ate. Then, he went to bed while I steam cleaned the carpets!

We slept in a little on Saturday morning, but then started cleaning the house, especially the main level. I’m talking wiping down baseboards and cabinets and actually moving things off the shelves to dust type cleaning! And we kept moving lots of the kids stuff downstairs into the basement so that now we can hardly manuvre down there, but things looked cleaner upstairs! (like the high chair, Diaper Genie, step stool, etc.) I had my kickbox divas over for a birthday dinner celebrating my own, Cassi and Eeman’s birthdays this month and next. It was so great to all get together and we had some entertaining conversation! But I started getting a migraine and by the end of the meal, I got nauseas and I kept disappearing to the bathroom. Any time I tried to go to the kitchen to clean something up, I got violently ill, until in the end, I couldn’t hold out any longer and lost all of the yummy food we’d had (stuffed shells, steamed veggies, bread, yummy chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing and Andie’s mint chocolate shavings and red velvet cake!) what a way to end a dinner party! Let me tell you how fast everyone cleared out! They were so helpful, though, loading the dishwasher for me and shaking off the placemats and leaving food and wine! It was such a fun evening, I hated for it to end the way it did.

But, I went upstairs and curled up in bed. Greg had gone out to dinner with Josh – they actually went to Andretti and raced go-carts first and then to Chili’s. I called him and heard when he got home not too much later, but I was trying to sleep through it. It was still lingering some Sunday morning, but I took some more Excedrin and took it easy and eventually it left me alone and I could function again. I took a long walk with the dogs (in the rain) rather than a pounding run and have my head throbbing, I just didn’t want to risk it coming back on, because we had more dinner plans! Doug, Morgan and Beth came by to drop off the dogs while we headed down to Emily’s house for a YUMMY dinner of chicken pot pie! My favorite and it was a good one from Costco. And Morgan made a delicious carrot cake! It was fantastic. It was fun to have some solo time for Samuel without my kids vying for attention, too. I really enjoyed watching and interacting with him and hearing all that he’s learning – words and colors and body parts and animal sounds. It’s such a great, fun age. After he went to bed, I got a fun Apples to Apples game that we then played for a long time. It was a great evening and I love getting together with my siblings.

I’m headed back down to the lake in the morning – mom’s taking the day off, so I’m looking forward to spending the day and heading back on Tuesday morning.
