All a-Twitter

I have joined yet another little online "community."

I read about Twitter.com on Dooce.com a while ago and found it intriguing. What a simple concept, but it's caught on like wild fire. I had mentioned it to some folks, but not done anything about it. Then, my cousin, Joe, sent me an invite to sign up this week. So I did. Then, I suckered in some friends, because it's more fun if I have Followers! And others to Follow (this is the lingo for the people you keep up with and who's keeping up with your updates.) It's just another place to create an account, have more passwords and be accountable for updating, BUT it's really quite simple and it LIMITS how much I can say, and we all know that's a good thing. It's fairly addictive. Or at least it's new and exciting right now, so we'll see how long that lasts.

So it begins

I just set up my MySpace profile yesterday and invited a few friends to be my friends and this morning I have a message from someone from Berry and one from someone from high school! This beast is crazy. But, it's kind of cool, too.

My fever blister is in full force. yippee. Why is it I only get nice, plump lips when they are infected with a virus?!

Megan & I are looking through pictures to submit to Baby Gap's photo contest/casting call. It's a tough choice. She has it narrowed down to two that are both winners. I haven't really looked, but did want to post Dellaina's most recent school picture, because I think it turned out really well. You all know I have some of her posing, but here's one of her more recent Lindsay Lohan poses, you know with the arm behind your head. I was saving it for an appropriate post, but I think this qualifies, since I was discussing pictures and posing, right? If anyone has any other opinions from pics I've posted in the blog so far, let me know. I think close-ups are the way to go. Guess that's all for now and I should get to work.

Moment of weakness

My immune system is weak and I have a lovely fever blister popping up. I've felt it growing and pulsing all morning. Ugh. In my weakened state/condition, I also set up a MySpace profile! It all started because a cousin had a blog on MySpace and I was able to read it for awhile, but then he set it to "friends only." I don't deny him that ability, because it's a smart move to make things more private and control who's viewing what you write, but I didn't like being denied! He should feel honored, because I've resisted the temptation and taunting from many other friends to give in, but his blog was the impetus that finally got me to cave and set up a profile. I do have other friends that have profiles and hope it will be a fun way to keep up with them, although I am still skeptical of the whole thing and what the point is of leaving people messages that everyone can read. Why not just email, IM or talk on the phone? We'll see.

Super Mom?

I got the afternoon off because I said I was going to try and get a hair appointment (and things are slow at the moment with one of my boss' out of town), but when I called, my hairdresser had already gone home. So, I'll go pick up Dellaina (yea!) and run by and see Greg and probably go to the store. Excitement!

I'm totally stealing this from someone else's blog, but when I went to the link, I spent so much time setting up my own super hero, that I just had to share and thought someone else might want to create one of their very own. I don't have a cool story to go with mine, though, but I do like lots of colors and the straggly red hair is pretty accurate and I wear those collared shirts and jackets fairly often, so there was some thought in the choices.

One other thought of the day is about MySpace.com. I do not have a profile and decided to start this blog instead, because I really did not see the need of having a profile on the site and this could be a little more selective. But, it is so infiltrated into our culture it just intrigues me. Everyone has a profile, it seems. I had some guys that I communicate with regularly through work ask me how old I was and if I had a myspace. It's just a curiosity thing, because we talk so much (one is married and has a son, so it's nothing kinky, here) but so many people have these profiles and I was able to look them up with the little information I had on them. One of them even had a profile for his 17 month old son! I enjoy getting to know the people I come in contact with (over the years I've had some send me pictures of themselves and mostly their kids and I've sent out my kids (pictures of dogs first and now Dellaina)), but I'm not sure how I feel about putting a face to the voices and emails and especially such personal faces -- pictures of the guys hanging out drinking with friends and reading comments from other friends. It reassures me that I'm glad I can be selective in who gets to see my posts and pictures. While I understand the curiosity side of things, I prefer to at least mostly know those that are looking. Any other thoughts on the subject?
